J'adore le Festival International de Louisiane. C'est toujours le fun. On écoute de la bonne musique, on danse comme des fous, on mange de trop, on rencontre desd anciens et des nouveaux amis de tout partout. On fête nos héritages avec du monde de partout sur la planète. On est ensemble juste pour le plaisir d'être ensemble. Bon Festival!
I adore Festival International de Louisiane. We get to listen to good music, we dance like fools, we eat too much, we meet old and new friends from all over. We celebrate our heritages with people from all over the planet. We get together just for the pleasure of being together. Have a great Festival!

L'ouverture de l'exposition Acadienne au Monument Acadien aura lieu le 2 mai à 5:30 p.m.

Gilbert D. Fletcher of New Orleans is showing his collection of oil paintings entitled, Documenting the cane River Creole Legacy, through Sunday, April 30 at Cité des Arts, Lafayette.
Sue Mills presents her exhibit, L'Acadie d'ailleurs à ici, a collection of photographs of Acadians, a picture of the landscape where they reside and written comments on the picture on the question, In your heart and in your mind, where do you find Acadie?, through May 26, Cité des Arts, Lafayette and the Acadian Memorial in St. Martinville.
The opening at the Acadian Memorial will take place May 2 at 5:30 p.m.

Cette semaine, on fête la Pâque et les Pâques. J'ai trouvé ça intéressant que ces deux fêtes partagent le même nom. Voilà ce que j'ai découvert sur le site web de la Diocèse de Nanterre, l'église catholique des Hauts-de-Seine(http://catholique-nanterre.cef.fr/faq/fetes_paques_fete.htm). Le mot 'pâque' vient du mot hébreu, Pessah, transcrit en grec puis en latin: pascha, le fait de passer outre, d'épargner, de passage. La Pâque commémore la libération du peuple juif de l'esclavage qu'il subissait en Égypte. Elle désigne le passage de Yahweh qui a frappé les maisons des Égyptiens mais qui a épargné les israélites. Elle commémoré la traversée de la Mer Rouge. La fête chrétienne de Pâques trouve ses racines dans la fête de la Pâque. Les chrétiens ont reconnu dans la mort et la résurrection de Jésus l'accomplissement de ce que préfigurait la sortie d'Égypte: la libération du mal et de la mort et l'entrée dans la vie donnée par Dieu. This week, we celebrate Passover and Easter. I found it very interesting that these two holidays share the same name (in French). Here's what I discovered on the web site of the Diocese of Nanterre, the Catholic Church of the Hauts-de-Seine (http://catholique-nanterre.cef.fr/faq/fetes_paques_fete.htm). The word 'pâque' (passover) comes from the Hebrew word, Pessah, transcribed in Greek and then Latin: pascha, the fact of going beyond, of saving, of passage. Passover commemorates the liberation of the Jewish people from slavery in Egypt. It designates the arrival of Yahweh who struck down the houses of the Egyptians while sparing the Israelites, as well as the passage through the Red Sea. The Christian holiday of Easter (Pâques) has its roots in the feast of Passover (Pâque). The Christians recognized in the death and resurrection of Jesus the accomplishment of what had been pre-ordained in Egypt: the liberation from suffering and death and entrance into the life offered by God. Happy Passover and Easter!
